B is for Blessings

We decided to do a collage of all the things God has blessed us with. There is lots! Then Sophia really wanted to do some butterfly stamps all over it.  It struck me as she did so that many blessings really are like butterflies...  fleeting, beautiful, and if we aren't mindful we can miss them, and forget to say thank you! So we decided to make a blessings jar to catch them in.  A big jam jar when we can write down little moments where we see Gods kindness to us throughout the year.  How lovely it will be at Christmas to look back on them!

Sophia loves taking them all out of the jar and then tidying them all up again!

A is for Ask

This week I am embarking with new enthusiasm on a project to share Jesus with my 21month old daughter, Sophia.  I've decided to use the alphabet to inspire topics to talk about faith.
This week A is for Ask- whenever we need something we can ask God.
We started by reading stories of people who asked God for things in the Big bible story book. We read the story of Daniel in the lions den. Daniel asked god to save him from the scary lions and he did!
Today we made a lion. I wasn't too sure that Sophia knew what a lion was and that it was scarey, so we made one. It hid in the grass and then jumped out and scared us....

Later on Sophia said "Juice please daddy God!"  So she is getting the asking thing! I said "yes daddy God will give you some juice, and he is going to use mummy to give it to you."
I wonder what I'm going to say when she asks daddy God for something that I don't want to give her (biscuits, crisps etc) . Or that I can't give her.
My theology of prayer is already being challenged!
